Care Guide

Care is part of BREE's design philosophy. High-quality materials deserve attention -not because they are delicate, but because they are authentic. Every leather tells its own story, developing patina and character. Here you'll find our tips on how to keep your BREE piece beautiful for years to come.

Natural leather

Essence

Both leather options showcase BREE's versatility: grained leather represents structure and everyday practicality, while smooth leather evokes calm and clarity. Grained leather is more resistant to scratches, whereas smooth leather has a finer appearance but is slightly more delicate. Both are naturally tanned and possess a soft, luxurious feel that develops a richer character over time.

Care

Protect with a suitable leather waterproofing spray immediately after purchase.

For light soiling: Moisten a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a little leather cleaner, wipe gently, then rub dry.

After cleaning, condition with a colorless leather cream – do not use on matte leathers.

Avoid contact with strongly colored textiles (e.g. dark jeans) to prevent color transfer.

Do not store above heat sources or in direct sunlight.

Grain & Smooth Leather

Essence

Natural leather is the most authentic form of leather – unadulterated, open-pored, and without a protective coating. It is vegetable-tanned, which preserves its particularly natural structure and feel. Over time, it develops a patina and color variations that make each piece unique. However, this open-pore structure also means that the material is sensitive to water, oils, and sunlight.

Care

Keep the leather away from water, oil, perfume and cosmetics.

Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity - both can alter the color and surface.

If the leather gets wet: Gently dab off excess moisture with a soft cloth and allow to air dry.

If necessary, use a gentle care product for natural leather, but always test it on an inconspicuous area first.

Store the product in a dry place in the dust bag - filled with some paper to help it retain its shape.

Metallic Leather

Essence

Metallic leather is both an expression of style and a statement – soft to the touch, with a fine metallic coating. This surface reflects light and movement, but remains sensitive to friction, moisture, and chemical substances. The metallic effect may darken slightly or become more matte over time – a normal aging process that adds depth to the material.

Care

Avoid contact with perfume, hand creams, oils or disinfectants – they can dissolve the coating.

Do not rub or place on rough surfaces.

If necessary, polish lightly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use cleaning products.

Should the leather get wet: Gently dab it with a cloth and let it air dry – no heat.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure to prevent discoloration.

Suede

Essence

Suede has a soft, velvety surface and a natural depth of color. It is created by sanding the underside of the leather – this gives it character, but also makes the material more sensitive to moisture, pressure, and color transfer. Despite modern tanning techniques, suede remains a material that should be treated with care.

Care

Before wearing for the first time, impregnate with a suede protection spray.

In case of contact with water or dirt: First allow to dry completely, then carefully brush with a soft suede brush.

No chemicals, no heat, no moisture – the material is sensitive.

Avoid contact with heavily colored clothing to prevent color transfer.

Store in a dry environment, ideally in the dust bag.

Hardware

Essence

The metal parts are both a functional detail and a design feature. Our hardware is made from high-quality, partially lacquered materials to preserve its shine and color over the long term. However, it is still sensitive to moisture, friction, and chemical substances.

Care

Regularly polish gently with a dry microfiber cloth.

Avoid contact with alcohol, hand sanitizers, acetone, hand lotions or sunscreens.

For slight discoloration, gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately.

Do not rub against rough or hard surfaces to avoid scratches.
